East or north sills often suit closed humid plants; south or west summer sun through glass can scorch leaves and overheat sealed air.
Winter (roughly November–February): usable daylight collapses — stretch and fade appear even on previously happy shelves.
LEDs still produce heat in enclosed spaces. Avoid cheap heated grow bulbs that turn jars into greenhouses. Do not leave lights on 24/7 — plants need a dark period. Extra UV is unnecessary for typical plant jars and can stress soft foliage.
