Leucobryum glaucum

Cushion Moss

Soft living carpet that holds moisture and finishes a miniature landscape.

Moss sets the mood of a terrarium floor. It prefers even moisture and low light, and rewards careful misting more than heavy watering.

Why it works

It softens hardscape, buffers humidity, and makes small plantings feel like a complete landscape.

Watering notes

Mist to keep the surface pearly-green. Brown patches usually mean dryness or too much direct sun — not a need to soak the whole case.

Care tips

  • Press moss gently onto damp substrate so contact is firm.
  • Trim stray strands away from constantly wet glass.
  • Use clean, pesticide-free moss only.

Common problems

  • Browning from harsh light or dry air.
  • Slime if kept underwatered then suddenly flooded.
  • Algae on glass when misting is excessive.
