Korean rock fern
Compact evergreen fern with dark stems and tidy fronds — more forgiving of average humidity than many tropical ferns.
An East Asian fern forming a neat clump typically around 20–30 cm. Glossy dark green fronds on nearly black stipes. Prefers evenly moist, well-drained organic mix. Often recommended for terrariums and shaded UK indoor spots; tolerates cooler rooms better than true rainforest ferns. Some guides warn closed terrariums can go mouldy without ventilation; semi-closed or occasionally vented closed cases are safest. Prefers cooler than heat-loving tropic plants (about 15–22°C often cited).
Why it works
True fern look at manageable size with easier humidity tolerance than maidenhairs — strong beginner fern pick distinct from seeded ferns.
Watering notes
Water when the surface is just drying. Cooler winter rooms need less frequent watering. Soft water preferred if tips brown. Keep soil evenly moist; do not let it bake dry.
